How Does Custom Jewelry Design Work?

Wondering how a custom piece actually comes together? It is simpler than you might think. Here is the path your design follows at Brownlee Jewelers, from the first sketch to the day you slip it on.

Step 1 - The Consultation

We sit down with you to talk through your idea, your budget, and the moment behind the piece. Bring a photo, an old ring, a loose stone, or nothing but an idea. There is no charge to begin.

Step 2 - CAD Design

Our designers turn your idea into a detailed CAD rendering, a three-dimensional model that shows the setting, the prongs, the band, and the way your center stone will sit. You see it before it exists.

Step 3 - Review and Approve

This is your piece, so nothing is cast until you love it. We refine the shape, the stones, the metal, and the finish until the design is exactly right.

Step 4 - Crafting at the Bench

Once you approve the design, it is cast and finished by hand at our bench. Stones are set, prongs are secured, and the piece is polished and inspected to our meticulous standards.

Step 5 - The Reveal

You see your finished piece for the first time at our showroom, ready to wear, to gift, or to propose with.
